Peking Chicken Burger with 5 Spice Wedges

The ultimate combo - crispy Peking chicken burger with 5 spiced wedges!

Serves 1

Crispy chicken burger with Taishon's Peking sauce, in a premium brioche bun with spring onions, chilli and coriander – a perfect match for serving with five spice wedges.

Ingredients For The Burger:

    •    1 x Brioche burger bun
    •    1 x Crispy frozen chicken burger of choice – preferably whole muscle
    •    Iceberg lettuce
    •    Fresh coriander
    •    Spring onion 
    •    Sliced red chilli
    •    Taishon's Peking sauce

Ingredients For The 5 Spiced Potato Wedges:

    •    6 X Whole star anise
    •    2 X Tablespoons fennel seeds
    •    2 X Teaspoons Szechuan peppercorns
    •    1 ½  Teaspoons of whole cloves
    •    1 X Cinnamon stick 3 inches long
    •    1 X Teaspoon table salt
    •    1 X Teaspoon caster sugar
    •    250g Potatoes, washed and cut into wedges
    •    Oil

Garnish:

    •    Spring onions, coriander, sliced red chilli and sesame seeds  

Method - 5 Spiced Mix:

1. In a dry hot pan, toast off the spices (cinnamon, fennel, Szechuan peppercorns, cloves and star anise). Allow to cool in a bowl and add a teaspoon of caster sugar and a teaspoon of salt. Place in a spice grinder until it resembles a fine powder. Store in a sterilised airtight container for up to 6 months. 

Method - Potato Wedges:

2. Thoroughly wash, peel and cut the potato into wedges.  Place into a bowl and lightly rub and cover in some oil.  Then place them directly into the air fryer set to 210C for 20-22 minutes. Stopping and turning every 5 minutes, until the wedges are nice and crispy. 

Method - Chicken Burger:

3. Meanwhile cook your pre-bought chicken burger according to the manufacturer’s instruction.

4. To assemble the burger spread a layer of Taishon's Peking sauce on the base of the bun, then add the crispy iceburg lettuce. Once cooked pop the chicken burger onto the lettuce and top with more of the peking sauce.  Finish with spring onion, a few slices of chilli and fresh coriander and crown with the bun top.  Remove the cooked wedges from the air fryer and season with the 5 spice mix. Garnish with spring onion, chilli and coriander. Simple. Delicious. Crispy. Delightful.
